10th April 2026 – Information to our visitors.
During the past year and continuing now we are concentrating our research in New South Wales and Queensland, including the Torres Strait and South Sea Islands. Our team are now starting the process of working through the website to “fill in” the missing information in the records currently online. We will be going through every record online not only filling in the missing information, but also proving the “Apical Ancestry” of those men and women on the site. This will be done prior to uploading any new Veterans.
We know there are some veterans that have not had their ancestry proven, so we will concentrate on those as a priority. It takes many hours of research to uncover the correct lines of ancestry so this will take months/years to complete.
The Australian War Memorial have volunteers that have been working with them for decades to undertake Apical Ancestry research and that is why they can support their findings with the men and women that are on their site.
We will not be “re-inventing” the wheel and researching those veterans that have already been proven, and we place our trust in War Memorial’s research. Our site is not in competition with any other site and has been developed because we saw a need to have a special place for Indigenous Veterans to tell their story.
We are not funded and raise our overheads with raffles and sales of handmade items and all of our team are volunteers. We will continue to work our way through the Internet and Archives to search for Indigenous veterans. We do this with heartfelt passion for identifying and recognising these men and women that have enlisted to fight for and protect their country.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with our research, so if you know of anyone that can spare a few hours and work from home please tell them to get in touch through the website or email us at "Snowyheroes1@gmail.com"
As we are only human you can be sure we will make mistakes. Please let us know if there are any issues that you may find and we will do our best to resolve them.
Thankyou for reading, Zita-Volunteer.
