Veteran Story: Harry Harper (1892-1963) was born at Albany Downs, Mitchell to Harry Harper and Alice Corrigan. Harper was working as a stockman at Tomoo Station,when he and two mates Tommy Smith and Charlie Parkes decided to volunteer during the annual Show and Races week. Smith and Parkes were allotted to the 11th Light Horse Regiment, but Harper was selected for the 52nd Infantry Battalion. Harper was medically discharged three months later in August 1917.
