Veteran Story: Phillip was born in 1838 to parents John Major and Jane nee Robinson. He died in 1909/3527 at Williamstown, Victoria. His physical description when he joined the Naval Reserves was dark eyes, dark complexion and standing 5'6" tall. He enlisted on 10/10/1871 and he was living at Little Nelson Street, Sandridge Victoria and working as a Labourer. Phillip married Mary Browning in 1866/3213 in Victoria and they produced three children from their marriage. Walter Phillip B1874/2667, Harold Edmund B1877/12377 and Lillian Maude B:1879/12826. All the children were born in Williamstown Victoria. Phillip resigned from the service in 1878.
