Veteran Story: Horace Charles Wilson was born on 29/11/1916 at Point McLeay, South Australia. He married Adeline Bertha Sumner on 26/11/1934 (SA BDM:352/3783). At the time of his enlistment on 31/5/1942, Horace was living at the Point McLeay Aboriginal Mission with his wife Adeline Bertha nee Sumner. They had three children; Julia Cecelia, Horace Major and Leonie Janet. (Note: No birth registrations available). Horace served his time in South Australia and on 17/7/1943 he was Court martialed for being Absent Without Leave. He was found guilty and suffered a penalty of imprisonment for 30 days and lost 8 days pay. He was discharged on 8/12/1944. On 30/3/1948 Adeline gave birth to a daughter and they named her Lorraine. Sadly she died the same year. (SA BDM: 732/5337), registered in Adelaide South Australia. On 22/5/1950 they had another daughter this time they named her Lorraine Clarice. Sadly she died in 1951 (SA BDM: 770/3717) at Pinnaroo South Australia. Adeline passed away the same year at Pinnaroo, (SA BDM: 774/5574) and Horace Charles died in 1952, at Point McLeay, South Australia. (SA BDM:779/856). Horace Major their son died in 1989 (SA BDM: 859A/5395).
